FAQs

For pleated curtains, we recommend that the curtain width should be equal to the length of the curtain rod or track. Measure from the eyelet ring where the hooks are attached.

How do you measure a pleated curtain panel?

The panel width is the pleated width, measured from the outer edge of the first pleat to the outer edge of the last pleat.

How much fabric is used?

Pleated curtains are already made with extra fabric to create their distinctive folds and fullness. The amount of fabric used depends on the style:

  • 2x fullness: For pinch pleat, inverted pleat, tailor pleat, and goblet styles.
  • 2.3x fullness: For triple pleat and triple tailor pleat styles.

For pleated curtains, the panel width is the final, pleated width. We permanently sew the pleats in to create a defined, finished look. The fabric fullness is already accounted for in this process.

We typically use 2x to 2.3x fullness to create the pleats and folds. This means your curtains are made from 2 to 2.3 times the amount of fabric as the finished pleated width.

For example, if your rod or track is 100 inches long, you would order a total pleated width of 100 inches. You could order two panels, each 50 inches wide, and they would be custom-made to fit perfectly.

The curtain stack width is the amount of space the curtains occupy when they are fully open.

This width can vary depending on the curtain's pleat style and fabric type, but as a general rule, it accounts for 20-30% of the total track or rod width.

Your order includes the specific hooks required for your chosen curtain style.

  • Adjustable Pin Hooks: Included with pinch pleat, inverted pleat, tailor pleat, triple pleat, and triple tailor pleat styles. These hooks allow you to adjust the curtain length up to 3 inches.
  • Metal Pin Hooks: Included with goblet pleat styles.

(Note: Rod rings are not included and must be purchased separately.)

For pleated curtains, the maximum width you can order without a vertical seam depends on both the length and pleat style.

  • For Curtains 108 Inches or Less in Length:
No vertical seams are required, regardless of the curtain's width.
  • For Curtains Over 108 Inches in Length:
A vertical seam will be added to create a wider panel. The maximum finished width without a seam varies by pleat style:56 inches: For pinch pleat, tailor pleat, inverted pleat, and goblet styles.50 inches: For triple pleat and triple tailor pleat styles.

Memory training is an essential technique used to help curtains hold their shape and maintain neat pleats and folds. This process ensures your drapery hangs beautifully from the moment you install it, giving it a tailored and professional look.

Memory training is not available for these curtain header styles:

  • Inverted Box Pleat
  • Rod Pocket
  • Grommet
  • Back Tab
  • Flat Hooks
  • Ripple Fold

These styles are designed to naturally form their shape and folds based on their construction and how they are installed, making memory training redundant.
